Graduation of the first class promotion in the Web Application Development training cycle, adapted to the Bioinformatics profile

- Nine students from the Institut Provençana in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and two from the Gimbernat Formació center in Sant Cugat del Vallès have graduated

The award ceremony took place on Thursday 14 September for the first promotion of graduates of the cicle de grau superior de Desenvolupament d'Aplicacions Web, adaptat al perfil professional de Bioinformàtica. Specifically, nine students from the Institut Provençana in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat and two from the Centre Gimbernat Formació in Sant Cugat del Vallès have graduated. The event took place at the "Casa Convalescència" in "Santa Creu i Sant Pau" and was chaired by the Deputy Director General of Programs, Training and Innovation of the General Directorate of Initial Vocational Training and Special Regime Education, Estanislau Vidal-Folch, and the President of the Barcelona Bioinformatics Association (BIB), Ana Ripoll.
This training cycle, adapted to the professional profile of Bioinformatics, is part of the collaboration agreement between the Department of Education and the Barcelona Bioinformatics Association (BIB). This agreement aims to promote, drive and develop, in alternation and with dual training, the training cycle of development of web applications adapted to bioinformatics, with the aim of improving the qualification of the personnel in the sector.
The objective of the training cycle is to form computer technicians with knowledge in life sciences that will enable them to understand the basic concepts and the most common bioinformatics tools used in the sector. The competence of this degree is to develop, implement and maintain web applications using specific technologies, ensuring access to data securely and meeting the criteria of accessibility, usability and quality required by the established standards.
In the dual training modality, students have combined training time in the school and activity time in the company, leading to the academic recognition of the learning achieved in it. The entities that have welcomed students in dual mode or in training in work centers have been Sequentia Biotech, Mind The Byte, Idibell, Programa de Recerca en Informàtica Biomèdica, IMIM and UPF (Pompeu Fabra University), Department of Sciences UPC Computing, Whole Genix, Intelligent Pharma, Indaba Solutions and Happy User Experiences.
