Job description

A FPI fellowship to carry out a PhD degree in Human Genomics is available at the Comparative and Functional Genomics group, located at the Institut de Biotecnologia i de Biomedicina (IBB) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). The successful candidate will join a young, dynamic, and interdisciplinary team and will collaborate in the research project "Integrative analysis of the functional impact of inversions in genomes and phenotypic traits", funded by the Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (MINECO).

The PhD project could have an experimental or bioinformatics focus and it will be related with the use of novel genomic and bioinformatics methods to estimate the functional consequences of inversions and estimate the mosaicism rates for inversions in the human genome. The selected candidate is expected to join the UAB PhD Program in Genetics, which has been awarded with the Mention to Excellence, or the new Interuniversity PhD Program in Bioinformatics.

Desired skills and expertise

We are looking for highly-motivated and talented individuals with interest in science and a Master degree in an area related to Genomics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or Evolution.

Contract duration and other benefits

Total duration of contract will be of 4 years with an annual salary of ~16.500 €.
