The association's purpose is to respond to the needs and challenges that the Bioinformatic community faces. BIB's strategic plan defines five main strategic areas to achieve its aims:

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Train the Future Generation of Bioinformaticians

  • To develop new educational programmes and activities in vocational education and training, undergraduate and post-graduate education, and lifelong learning
  • To retain highly qualified bioinformaticians to support the mid- and long-term development of the health and agrifood sectors
  • To contribute towards the advancement of knowledge in bioinformatics and related disciplines

INDUSTRY SECTOR
Vector of Business Competitiveness

  • To contribute to increasing companies’ competitiveness and innovation
  • To generate new business opportunities in the health and agrifood sector
  • To boost the creation of a bioinformatics technology platform with the deployment of advanced infrastructure to facilitate the interconnection of industry sectors with research centres and their high technological level resources
  • To enable the sharing of knowledge, tools and services increasing the potential development of this sector, bringing the public and the private sector together.
